OC3PR: ICU Staffing Patterns: Outcomes for Patients and for Learners

About this Event
Please join us for the next OC3PR where we will discuss the origins of the focus on continuity of care, the ways in which critical care practice and training has evolved to make this harder to achieve, and unpack the trade-offs associated with different staffing models.
Speakers:
- Dr. Hannah Wunsch, Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Weill Cornell Medicine
- Dr. Dominique Piquette, Staff Physician, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
Objectives
After attending the webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the origins of staffing models in the ICU that are focused on longitudinal care by individuals
- Identify the ways in which modern care of critically ill patients differs
- Discuss the potential trade-offs, risks and benefits of models of care that emphasize continuity over shifts
We invite all multidisciplinary ICU teams to participate and ask that you please share this invite with your colleagues who are involved with critical care. To further share key learning points highlighted during each webinar, we encourage teams to schedule time to debrief and discuss how the information will inform or be incorporated into practices in your hospital.
If you have any questions that you would like to submit ahead of the webinar please send these to info@ccso.ca with the subject line “Clinical Webinar Series”.
We look forward to you joining us.
Thank-you
